The Villiens Dance Company

The Villiens Dance Company is a group of likeminded people from the Colchester area who recreate dances of the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. With our main focus on dances from the reign of Elizaeth I.

In addition to dancing several members also display authentic arts and crafts from the period.

The Villeins dance company has the following mission statement:

“The group aim to portray dancing from the era of Elizabeth I to the highest standard possible. To further this we seek to wear as accurate clothing as is possible and use dances that we know would have been danced in this period. “
